Autonomous activities largely included student council and club activities, and in order to reflect diverse opinions, participants were classified based on their gender, age, school year, region, school year system, student association membership, and club membership.
Results: The experience of autonomous activities and a high level of satisfaction in them correlated with high degree of satisfaction in university and college life and the major and good scores of self-efficiency, self-respect, and self-elasticity, with statistical significance.
Conclusions: High levels of satisfaction in university and college life and the major as well as good self-esteem, selfefficacy, and ego-resiliency contribute to a rich college life of students of optometry, and when they become members of society, they are more adept in their lives and at expanding their individual abilities. Findings of this study could encourage students of optometry to actively participate in autonomous activities and the Department of Optometry to establish various autonomous activities and provide an environment for active participation in the activities.
